LINCOLN, Neb. -- Joan E. Hunter, 76, of Lincoln passed away Feb. 16, 2017.

She was born Dec. 5, 1940, to Floyd and Elaine (Stone) Burkey of Bartley, Neb. She grew up in Bartley and was a member of the Class of 1959.

Joan worked as a vocational rehab trainer with Community Alternatives and The People's City Mission in Lincoln.

She was preceded in death by brothers-law, John Jones and Robert Brown.

Survivors include son, Bret (Debra) Henning of Lincoln, daughters, Shelley Ihde of Omaha and Bobbie of Lincoln; nine grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; sisters, Judy Jones of Houston, Texas, Jennifer Brown of Pfluggerville,Texas, and brother, Jon (Pat) Burkey of Lincoln.

Graveside services are Wednesday Feb. 22, 2017, 11 a.m. at Wyuka Cemetery. Visitation is Wednesday at 9 a.m. until services.
