THAILAND -- Bruce Carse, 65, known as Doc to many of his friends, was fatally injured in a motorcycle accident in Thailand on Jan. 13, 2017.

He is survived by his daughter, Lana; his son, Brent, and his granddaughter, Makiah, all of Girdwood, Alaska. Doc is also survived by his sister, Sue Witte of Cambridge, Neb., and her family, as well as his brother, Jim Carse of Atlanta, Ga., and his family.

Doc was born to Jean and Leon Carse on Nov. 7, 1951, in McCook, Neb., and raised on a farm outside of the nearby town of Palisade. Doc enlisted in the Army in 1972 and after completing his service, graduated from the University of Northern Colorado with a business degree. Upon graduation, he started working in the oil fields of Wyoming. After two years, the gas company Hydril transferred him to Anchorage, Alaska. He soon bought a house in the neighboring community of Girdwood, that became his home for the next 35 years.

Doc grew with Girdwood and started Glacier Valley Snowmobile Tours in 1995. He enjoyed snow machining, fishing, boating, traveling and spending time telling stories with friends and family at his beloved "fish camp." Doc's world was always much bigger than Alaska, though. A love of travel and a knack for adventure led him to Thailand in the late 1980s and he returned every chance he got to spend time at his second home in Ko Pha Ngan. He loved cruising around Thailand on his motorcycle and established a core group of friends there from all over the world. Doc was loved by many people from Alaska to Thailand to Germany and beyond. He was always energetic and forever planning his next project or travel adventure. Doc lived life to the fullest and he will be greatly missed by friends and family.

There will be a Celebration of Life service at the CBY campground, south of Cambridge, Neb., on June 17, 2017, at 2 p.m.
