Roger Christensen

GRAND ISLAND, Neb. -- Roger Christensen, 67, of Grand Island, died Dec. 12, 2016, at CHI St. Francis Medical Center.

He was born on Nov. 28, 1949, in St. Paul, Neb., to Arnold and Marie (Rojewski) Christensen. He grew up in St. Paul and graduated from St. Paul High School in 1968. He attended Business School in Grand Island.

He entered the United States Army on Aug. 29, 1969, serving during the Vietnam War and receiving several medals of honor. He was honorably discharged on Aug. 28, 1975. He worked for the U.S. Post Office in Grand Island and retired after 25 years. He attended the University at Kearney and earned a bachelor of science degree in 1991.

He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Grand Island.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, John (Jack); sister, Kathleen (Kae); and nephew, Scott Mock.

Survivors include his sisters, Ann (Eldon) Mock of Holbrook, Neb., and Kristine (Rodney) Dell of Hastings, Neb.; brother, Terry Christensen of Grand Island; and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service was Dec. 15, 2016, at Stolley Park Church of Christ with the Rev. Mike Reeves officiating. Cremation was chosen. Memorials may be given in his name to Stolley Park Church of Christ.

Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
