KEARNEY, Neb. -- Kent Duane Martin, 63, of Kearney, died at home on Oct. 1, 2016.

He was born on Jan. 23, 1953, to Harold 'Andy' and Helen Martin (Kircher) of Danbury, Neb. Kent graduated from Beaver Valley High School in 1972.

Kent was a loving father of four, grandfather, uncle, and friend to many. Kent devoted a majority of his lifetime helping others seek the peace that his sobriety brought him. He enjoyed fishing, sprint cars, and all things Husker football.

He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Delmere Thomas; his mother, Helen and father, Andy.

Kent is survived by sons, Derrick (Kimberlee) Martin of Castorland, N.Y., Sheldon (Deanna) Martin of McCook, Neb., Cody Martin of Lincoln, Neb.; daughter, McCartney Martin of Lincoln; seven grandchildren; brothers, Kay (Margie) Martin of McCook and Ron (Linda) Martin of Danbury. Kent is also survived by his family at the Ambry Club in Kearney.

Memorial services will be Saturday, Oct. 8, 2016, 2 p.m. at the Presbyterian Church in Danbury, with Scott Inman officiating. Inurnment will follow at the Danbury-Marion Cemetery.
