LINCOLN, Neb. -- Nason Russell Wilson, 78, of Lincoln, passed away Sept. 10, 2016, from multiple myeloma cancer.

Nason was born to Kermit and Martha (Gobel) Wilson on Nov. 5, 1937, in a farmhouse located two miles south of Chadron, Neb. At a young age, Nason lived in Hay Springs, Neb., and then moved north of Parks, Neb., with his parents and siblings in 1946. Nason graduated from Parks High School in Parks. He attended McCook Community College in McCook, Neb., and served in the Army National Guard. Nason worked as a hired hand for Crescent Bar Ranch. He loved farming and raising cattle. On Feb. 8, 1964, Nason married Marjorie Gehrig. The couple had four children, Ruthann, Russell, Robin, and Richard. In 1966, Nason and his brother, Duane formed Wilson Brothers Angus and started raising and selling registered Angus cattle. They also farmed and raised hogs and sheep. In 2007, for medical reasons he retired and they dissolved the partnership. Nason and Marjorie moved near Valpraiso, Neb., to be closer to their children and grandchildren in 2008 and then in 2015, they moved to Lincoln.

Nason served the Lord faithfully after being born again in his late teens. He taught adult and youth Sunday School classes and transported children to church camps. He served on the boards of the Benkelman Friends Church and Imperial Valley Holiness Camp Association. He attended the Benkelman Baptist Church for several years. He then became a member in 2010 of the Connecting Pointe Church of the Nazarene. Nason was baptized Oct. 3, 2010. He loved to read his Bible and listening to Paul Harvey, Nebraska Cornhusker games and Christian music on the radio while he was working in the shop.

Nason is survived by his wife, Marjorie, of 52 years; his children, Ruthann Wilson, Russell (Hollie) Wilson, Robin (Gregg) Kay, and Richard (Adrienne) Wilson; grandchildren, Greyson Kay, Gueryn Kay, Tessa Wilson, Harper Wilson and Grant Kay; siblings, Sharlane (Tom) Jones, Duane (Colleen) Wilson and Bonny (Jim) Smith; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Nason was preceded in death by his parents, Kermit and Martha Wilson.

Memorial service are Saturday, Sept. 24, 2016, at 10:30 a.m., Connecting Pointe Church of the Nazarene, 1901 S. 70th Lincoln, Neb.

Memorial donations may be given to the family for future designation.
