PALISADE, Neb. -- Charles James Rose, Jr., also known as Charlie or Junior by family and friends, of Palisade, went to be with his Lord on Saturday, Sept. 17, 2016, at Great Plains Medical Center in North Platte, Neb.

Charlie was born on Jan. 31, 1954, in Dayton, Ohio, to parents, Charles James and Jessie Marie (Leigh) Rose, Sr. He graduated from high school and later entered the U.S. Army and was later honorably discharged.

On March 17, 1996, he was united in marriage to Celia Grace Hammond in New Carlisle, Ohio. They eventually made their home in Palisade to be closer to Celia's mother.

Charlie enjoyed working on cars and in the yard until his health no longer let him. He enjoyed all of his 19 grandchildren when they were around. He will surely be missed by all of his family and friends.

Preceding him in death were his parents; two brothers, John and Jimmie Rose; three sisters, Phillis Knipp and infants Baby Rose and Joetta Rose; two nephews; mother-in-law, DeWinta McDowell; and brother-in-law, George Hammond.

He is survived by his loving wife, Celia Rose of Palisade; daughters, Stacy (Scott) Rose-King of Indianapolis, Ind., Sarah Anderson and Amy Anderson of Indianapolis, and Ashley M. Rose of Dayton, Ohio; sons, Daniel Rose of Indiana and Timothy Rose of Dayton; step-children, James E. (Jennifer) Kellenbarger of Miamisburg, Ohio, John A. (Jennelle) Kellenbarger of Fort Carson, Colo., and Cindi J. Kellenbarger of Greenville, Ohio; sister, Doris Anna O'Byrne of New Carlisle, Ohio; brothers, Roy (Mary) Rose of Dayton and Ray (Karen) Rose of Missouri; brother-in-law, Merlin Knipp of New Carlisle, Ohio; sisters-in-law, Joan Rose of Jasper, Mo., and Anna Marie Rose of Dayton; brothers-in-law, Gary (Chris) Roth of McCook and John Hammond of North Platte; numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.

Funeral services will be Monday, Sept. 26, 2016, 11 a.m., at Trinity Lutheran Church in Palisade with Pastor David McCarthy officiating. Military honors will be presented by the Palisade Veterans. A private family inurnment will be at a later time.
