AURORA, Neb. -- Marva Rae Gerlach, 86, of Aurora, died Wednesday (Aug. 10, 2016), at Memorial Community Care.

She was born in Callaway, Neb., to Seth A. and Lola M. (Smith) Best on Aug. 15, 1929.

She was raised in Broken Bow and graduated from Broken Bow High School in 1947. She married Donald Edwin Gerlach on Feb. 15, 1948. They lived in Broken Bow and York, Neb., and moved to Aurora in 1962. She worked in the Steenburg Clinic in the front office and then as a ward clerk at Memorial Hospital until her retirement.

She was a member of Aurora United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; three children, David Gerlach, Barbara Gerlach-Bice and Bill Gerlach; and grandson, Daniel Gerlach.

Survivors include her daughter, Ann Gerlach-Lindauer and husband, Paul Lindauer of Boise, Idaho; nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Services are Monday, Aug. 22, 2016, 11 a.m. at Aurora United Methodist Church with the Rev. Ron Harris officiating. Inurnment will be at the Aurora Cemetery. Condolences may be shared at www.higbymortuary.com.
