The McCook Bison claimed the 2016 Nebraska Class B State High School Boys Golf Championship in competition Tuesday and Wednesday, May 24-25, at Pioneers Golf Course in Lincoln. The Bison had a two-day, 36-hole total of 619 strokes. Elkhorn Mt. Michael finished second at 627. Team members showing off individual medals and their state championship trophy include, from left: Masen Sis, Caleb Sheets, Riley Loop, head coach Rick Haney, Noah Hofman, Kade Gray, assistant coach Joe Vetrovsky. Hofman won his second straight Class B individual state title, and Loop finished third at state to pace the Bison. See story and more photos in Sports, page 8 in today's Gazette.
