TRENTON, Neb. -- Leona Loraine Webb of Trenton, formerly of McCook, passed away Tuesday, April 19, 2016, at El Dorado Manor Nursing Home in Trenton. She was 89 years old.

Leona was born at Lebanon, Neb., to Benjamin Harrison and Maude Ruth (Martin) Squires. She attended Lebanon Schools and graduated in 1944.

She moved to McCook and worked at the Army Air Base where she met and married John Lutz. They adopted a son, Richard. They were later divorced.

Leona worked at Hested Dime Store, Stickney's and Klein Motor and Electric as a bookkeeper for 30 years until she retired in 1989.

On Aug. 9, 1958, she married Lester Floyd Webb and they celebrated 50 years of marriage in 2008. Lester adopted Richard on April 8, 1960. Lester preceded her in death on July 30, 2015.

Leona was a member of Memorial United Methodist Church, American Legion Auxiliary, and B.P.O. Does No. 3. Leona and Lester joined the Order of Eastern Star in November of 1960 in Dorcas Chapter No. 144 at Bartley, Neb. They later became dual members of Eureka Chapter No. 86, McCook, Neb. Leona and Lester received 50-year pins in Eastern Star in November of 2010. She was also a member and past-president of Shriner Auxiliary, active member and past-president of Bahia Nilettes, 25-year member of the Daughters of the Nile, Hastings, Neb. and North Platte Assembly Social Order, Beauceaunt No. 144, and Daughter of American Revolution.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Benjamin and Maude Squires; and one brother, William Squires and wife, Dottie.

Survivors include her son, Richard Webb and wife, Christine of McCook; granddaughters, Patricia and husband, Anthony Ford of Culbertson and Angel and husband, Scott Fleming of Omaha; grandson, Benjamin Webb and wife, Lindsey of McCook; great-granddaughter, Taylor Ford and great-grandsons, Torrington Ford and Asher Gray Webb; niece, Jeanie and husband, Bill Eserini and their sons, Matthew and Andrew of San Jose, Calif.; many cousins and a host of friends.

Visitation will be Sunday, April 24, 2016, 3 to 6 p.m. at Herrmann-Jones Funeral Chapel of McCook. Friends may go online at www.herrrmannfh.com to extend condolences to the family.

Funeral service and Eastern Star service for Leona will be Monday, April 25, 2016, 10:30 a.m. at Memorial United Methodist Church in McCook with Rev. Doug Griger officiating. Interment for both Leona and Lester will be Monday, April 25, 2016, 2:30 p.m. at Fort McPherson National Cemetery in Maxwell, Neb. with Military Honors for Lester.
