McCOOK, Neb. -- Richard E. "Dick" Hoffman departed this life on Feb. 5, 2016, at the age of 74.

Dick was born Nov. 3, 1941 to Howard and Lee Hoffman in Salina, Kansas.

Dick was united in marriage to Cathy Gamblin, and to this union three children were born, Sean, Shannon, and Scott.

On March 26, 2005, Dick was married to Dorene Hueftle in Kona, Hawaii. With this marriage he gained a hunting buddy and a son, Preston Hueftle.

Dick loved the outdoors and to hunt with his special Brittany's, Freckles, Sam, and Buck.

Dick was an avid Husker fan and we all know he cheered his beloved Broncos for the 50th Super Bowl.

Following his discharge from the Air Force, Dick held many jobs during his lifetime, including working for Gates Rubber Company in Denver, Colorado, construction foreman, and certified welder. He was working as a liquor salesman for Finnochiaro Wine Company out of Omaha, when he retired in 2006.

Following his retirement, he enjoyed many hours at Heritage Hills Golf Course. Dick also loved to travel and see all of the world that he could.

Dick was proceeded in death by his son, Scott, and his mother, Lee.

Dick is survived by his wife, Dorene and son, Preston, both of McCook; son, Sean (Cassie) of Sutherland, daughter, Shannon (Tom) of South Carolina; daughter-in-law, Darcy (Frank) Hansen of McCook; sisters-in-law, Dollene (Raymond) Muths of Goehner and Marjean (Richard) of Ansley; father, Howard of McCook; sister, Marcia (Chuck) Dobson of Commerce City, Colorado; grandchildren, Hunter Hueftle of Lincoln, Shane Hoffman of Arapahoe, Noah Schalles of Virginia, Rylee Hoffman of South Carolina, Deane Owens of Alabama, Christian Hoffman of Papillion, Stephen Hoffman of McCook, Melissa (Nathan) Veal of North Platte, Traci (Dusty) Kramer of Sutherland, and Adrian (Zzyzx) Brown of Gering; five great-grandchildren, Kaydan, Colby, Alexis, Karson, and Mya; numerous nieces, nephews, and other family members.

Memorials may be given in his name.

Visitation will be Thursday, Feb. 11, 2016, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Herrmann-Jones Funeral Chapel with family greeting friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Friends and family can go online at www.herrmannfh.com to extend condolences to the family.

Services will be Friday, Feb. 12, 11 a.m., at Herrmann-Jones Funeral Home in McCook with Pastor Dale Heimer officiating.
