BARTLEY, Neb. -- Dessie Marie Cochran of Bartley, Nebraska, passed away Thursday, Feb. 4, 2016, at Hillcrest Nursing Home in McCook, Nebraska surrounded by her family. She was 89 years old.

Marie was born on April 15, 1926, at Cambridge, Nebraska, to parents, Floyd Ellsworth and Dessie McElroy (Kinnison) Webb. She graduated from Bartley High School in 1944. She then attended and graduated from the Hastings School of Beauty.

On Oct. 12, 1947, she was united in marriage to Lawrence Ernest Cochran at Bartley. To this union four children were born. Besides being a busy mother, Marie also worked at the Crawmers Grocery Store, drove the school bus and worked in the cafeteria of the Bartley Schools.

She was a member of the Kemper Memorial United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and Order of Eastern Star, Dorcus Chapter No. 144.

When Marie wasn't working, she enjoyed crocheting, square dancing and following her grandchildren's sports and activities. She enjoyed the outdoors by watching birds, especially bluebirds, and found solace in mowing.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Ernest Cochran; her parents, Floyd and Dessie Webb; grandson, Brian Cochran; infant sister, Glenva Webb and sister, Joy Hausmann; and brother, Lester Webb.

Survivors include her son, Edward Cochran and wife, Terri of Bartley; three daughters, Virginia and husband, Del Lawson of Champion, Shirley and husband, Jay Alberts of McCook and Deb and husband, Rod Horst of Lodgepole; brother, Donald Webb of Berthoud, Colorado; sister, Elnora Burke of Bartley; 14 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

Memorials may be given in her name to the Kemper Memorial United Methodist "Save the Church Fund."

Visitation will be Sunday, Feb. 7, 2016, at Lockenour Jones Mortuary in Cambridge from 2-5 p.m. Friends may go online at www.lockenour.com to extend condolences to the family.

Funeral services will be Monday, Feb. 8, 2016, 10:30 a.m., at Kemper Memorial United Methodist Church in Bartley with Pastor Jeff Wulf officiating. Burial will follow in the Bartley Cemetery.
