Donald Wayne Brehm

Nov. 3, 1936 - June 15, 2015

OMAHA, Neb. -- Donald Wayne Brehm was born on Nov. 3, 1936, in Beverly, Nebraska, to parents Henry and Esther Brehm. Don became a child of God just three months later when he was baptized in the name of the Triune God -- Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

On June 1, 1957, Don married his sweetheart, Pat Ellis. Earlier this month, Don and Pat were able to observe their 58 th wedding anniversary!

Don was a man with many interests and talents, from stamp collecting, model building, and ham radio in his earlier years, to dogs, trap shooting, and wood working as he got older. Don definitely preferred country life over city life and traditional country music over everything else. In the fall, Don was often heard "helping" Dr. Tom coach the Huskers to another victory.

Don was an exceptional communicator, not overly talkative, but definitely convincing. When he wanted to make a point, he would look at you from over the top rim of his glasses. Let there be no doubt, you got the point. And as a man of few words, when Don was finished talking he would often say, "I think this conversation is over," then he punctuated his sentence with a chuckle from his smiling face.

While Don was a devoted husband and loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, he was also a true friend who wanted to be remembered as someone who cared about people.

Don was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Kathi; and by his great-grandson, Luke.

Don is survived by his wife, Pat; his daughter, Lisa Brehm; his granddaughters, Randi Heinen and Shonni (Jeremy) Johnson; and his great-grandchildren, Corbin, Marty, and Grace.

The Lord called Don home to heaven on Monday morning, June 15, 2015.
