Towns plan Memorial Day ceremonies

Memorial Day is the time to recount the sacrifice of all America's warriors, honor the memory of America's fighting men and women who died defending our nation and honor our family heritage.

The observance usually includes the decoration of veterans and family graves and in fact originally was known as "Decoration Day."

This year's Memorial Day ceremonies include:

McCook

The McCook American Legion Post 203 plans 2015 Memorial Day services at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Veterans Memorial Monument near the north section of Memorial Park Cemetery in McCook.

Curtis

Starting 10:30am in the Curtis Cemetery a program conducted by the American Legion / Veterans will be conducted in Honor of the 70th Anniversary of World War II and dedicated to all Veterans.

The program will then be moved and repeated at Moorefield and Stockville taking approximately 1 Hour at each location.

The program will include reading of all the deceased veterans in each Cemetery at Curtis, Moorefield and Stockville. Each program will also include the Color Guard with a Rifle Salute, and Taps will to be played by Ron Wiiest.

Eustis

Starting 10:00am Memorial Day Services will be conducted at the American Legion Hall in Eustis and will last approximately 1 hour. Color Guard with Rifle Salute will be completed at both Cemeteries after the 10:00am service.

Maywood

American Legion activities: Color Guard for Old Glory Days in Maywood -- Saturday before Memorial Day (May 23rd this year)

Memorial Day Services 11 a.m.

VFW activities:

Provide flags for over 50 flagpoles on Memorial Day at the Maywood Cemetery

Cook and serve lunch for Old Glory Days celebration in Maywood
