Share the Heat soup supper, silent auction Nov. 2

Thursday, October 23, 2014

McCOOK, Neb. -- Volunteers plan the 2014 "Share the Heat" soup luncheon, salad bar and silent auction Sunday, Nov. 2, from 11 a.m. until 1:30 p.m., in the Community Building on the Red Willow County fairgrounds in McCook, Nebraska.

Proceeds from the free-will lunch and auction, as well as donations, go into the "Share the Heat" fund to help families throughout Southwest Nebraska pay their winter heating bills.

Last year, the program helped 32 households pay $8,383 in heating bills. Since the program's inception in March 2009, coordinators have written 165 checks averaging $230.

To help the program, donations can be made to Warren Everts of McCook; items can be donated for the silent auction; and/or food and supplies can be donated for the meal. The menu will include soups, a salad bar and dessert.

To donate, or volunteer to help, contact Warren at (308) 345-6429; Linda at (308) 345-1755; or Maxine at (308) 345-3733.

The benefit is free-will donation, with supporting funds from Thrivent Financial, a member-owned service for Christians.

Mail donations to: Share the Heat, Warren Everts, 611 W. Fifth, McCook, NE 69001.

The "Share the Heat" account functions through the tax exempt status of Our Savior's Lutheran Church, McCook, Warren Everts, treasurer.
