Alzheimer's Walk set Sept. 27, in Norris Park

Thursday, August 28, 2014

McCOOK, Neb. -- The Alzheimer's Association Southwest Nebraska Memory Walk is Saturday, Sept. 27, at Norris Park in conjunction with Heritage Days.

Registration begins at 5 p.m. with the walk starting at 5:30 p.m. Those who want to show support can give a donation, donate items for a raffle package or door prizes and/or attend the walk.

Organizers said raffle packages were a great success last year at the walk to raise money for the cause. There will be five raffle packages this year that can be donated to: "Promote McCook": gift certificates to area restaurants and businesses; "Bronco Game Weekend": tickets for two, hotel, dinner, food; "Golf Excursion": golf for two at area course, cart rental, dinner; "Spa Day": massage, mani/pedi, tanning; and "Kearney Storm Weekend": tickets for four, hotel, dinner and food.

The Southwest Nebraska Alzheimer's Association encourages employees to form teams, as other businesses have done in the past, or walkers can attend indivifually. Either way, support is greatly appreciated not only by the local organization but by friends, family and neighbors who are affected by Alzheimer's Disease.
