Mary Jane 'Janie' Lentz

April 25, 1949 - July 15, 2014

LUFKIN, Texas -- Mary Jane "Janie" Lentz, 65, was born April 25, 1949, in McCook, Nebraska, to Donald and Mary (Phelps) Lehl and died Tuesday, July 15, 2014, at her turn of the century home in Lufkin, Texas.

Janie was a 1967 graduate of McCook High School in Nebraska. She had also resided in St. Louis, Missouri, and had lived in Lufkin, Texas, since 2007. She had worked in the gift shop at Memorial Medical Center. Janie was fond of musicals and classic mystery movies, especially old black and white movies. She loved "The Bird Cage." She was a lifelong animal lover and was known for adopting special needs animals. Her personality and sense of humor brightened every occasion and she brought joy and love with her everywhere.

Survivors include her husband, Linford Lee "Lin" Lentz of Lufkin, Texas; daughter, Georgia Redding of Chicago, Illinois; sister, Donna Baum of Lubbock, Texas; brother, Charlie Lehl of Lincoln, Nebraska; nephew, Chad Baum of Fort Worth, Texas; niece and husband, Darcy and Brandon Marshall of Lubbock, Texas; and great-nephews and great-niece, Ty Marshall, Bodi Marshall and Bradi Marshall, all of Lubbock, Texas.

Memorial contributions may be made to the McCook Humane Society, 100 South Street, McCook, Nebraska 69001.

Memorial services will be Monday, July 28, 2014, at 11 a.m. at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home with Jerry Beckenhauer officiating. Inurnment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, McCook, Nebraska.
