A painting by Southern Valley High School student Thomas Hoxmeier of Orleans, "Then There Were Three," took first place in the 2014 Congressional Art Competition: An Artistic Discovery, and will be on display in the U.S. Capitol for one year. U.S. Rep. Adrian Smith worked with the Nebraska Art Teachers Association to coordinate the district-wide competition. "Congratulations to the winners of this year's Congressional Art Competition and to all of the students who submitted their work," Smith said. "The quality of the art submitted this year is further evidence of the talent of 3rd District students and their teachers."
